Empowering Others Is Impactful
Your job is to be impactful. Not produce code. Not close tickets. Not put in hours. To create impact on what ever is important in your organization.
There is only so much any individual can do with their time to create impact. It helps to prioritize well, but you're only one person. At some point to best way to increase your impact is to make others better.
This can be done in many ways. You can build tools that make it faster for your team members to solve common problems. You can write documentation and playbooks to remove knowledge silos.
Perhaps the most effective way to empower others is to help them grow. This can be as basic as sitting down to work through a problem with a coworker or as involved as formally mentoring someone throughout their career. Especially as you become more senior, more and more of your time should be spent making others better. It's the only way to scale your impact beyond your limitations as an individual.
