Going quickly toward something you don't want doesn't help you and can often be demoralizing. Think hard about what you want and seek out opportunities that will help you understand and grow in those areas.
What if you don't know exactly what you want yet? Well, then take random opportunities! Hop on whatever projects come up and learn something. But don't just learn new skills, learn if you like the work or not.
Obviously you won't be able to pick and choose every project you work on. Some work is just part of the job, but when you do have agency over your work, know how to use it.
